Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a local cancer treatment which can offer an alternative and real hope to selective patients with cancer.

For some of those unfortunate enough to be inflicted with cancer there is now a real possibility to benefit from PDT, thus avoiding more invasive chemo treatment. PDT is carried out by day surgery.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has provided guidelines for a number of cancers to be treated by PDT.

PDT is a minimally invasive treatment, employing a light sensitive drug, which is activated by an appropriate light (often a laser) to generate cancer killing agents.

The Moghissi Laser Trust (MLT) has pioneered PDT treatment in the UK and Europe for lung, oesophagus and other cancers. The MLT requires funds to continue their research and patient’s treatment into lung, oesophagus, head and neck, skin, bladder, colo-rectal and some gynaecological cancers.
